Matthew's father Gale was a Marine and a LEO for over thirty years, retiring from the California Highway Patrol (badge # 3597), and his mother Joana was a stay-at-home mom and a Sunday School teacher with the faith of Noah, so as you might expect, he and his four brothers didn’t get away with much, and were definitely kept on the straight and narrow path.
